Financing Your Education
Lafayette made an exciting contribution to higher education by pledging more grants for families with incomes under $100,000. This initiative allows the College to enroll the brightest, most diverse students, regardless of family income.
In doing so, Lafayette eliminated loans from the need-based aid packages awarded to students with family incomes less than $50,000 and whose financial assets are typical of that income level. Lafayette also limited to $3,500 per year the loans for students with family incomes between $50,000 and $100,000. That means families repay less, while students get the strong liberal arts education needed to thrive in future careers.
Lafayette awarded more than $35 million in College-funded aid in the form of scholarships and need based grants in 2011-12 and has budgeted $37 million in financial aid for 2012-13. More than half of Lafayette students will receive the assistance they need to make a Lafayette education possible.
With the price tag of a world-class, private college education continuing to climb, many families find themselves in need of financial assistance. At Lafayette, we want to help you understand the options available and the process of applying for the grants, student loans, parent loans, payment plans, and work-study opportunities.
